The antenna array consists of two perpendicular delta-type antennas. The antennas can be used interchangeably as transmitting antennas, which allows the ionosonde to continue operating even if one of the antenna systems fails. However, operation with only one antenna does not allow for retrieval of information about the polarization of the reflected wave.
