• Ionosonde in Olsztyn Scientificand Technology Park

The Global Ionospheric Radio Observatory (GIRO) is a worldwide network of ionosondes that measure the density of free electrons in Earth’s ionosphere. GIRO was established and is coordinated by the University of Massachusetts Lowell. It continuously collects and distributes ionospheric data, enabling scientists and researchers to better understand ionospheric behavior and to forecast space weather events.

The Olsztyn ionosonde, located at the OPN-T station, has been operating within the GIRO network since 2014, expanding the network’s coverage and providing essential data on local ionospheric variability over the Polish region.
